Why and How

With over 6 years experience as a web designer / developer within web agencies and many years of additional specialist web programming training and design, I have accumulated excellent skills. I have industry applied knowledge of Content Management Systems, Advertising and Search Optimisation. I have the experience to ensure your site can use the latest web standards to give it optimum speed of download, ease of updating and future proof. To archive your goals I use software such as Adobe and Macromedia Suites and programming languages including HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, ASP, VB Scripting, Windows and Linux hosting solutions and MS SQL plus MySQL databases.

How I Work.....

I work closely with the client to help them see the potential offered by a clear, well designed web site. I analyses their company to take into account their ethos, values, competition and customers and from this a web solution is developed.

Questions and Answers

What exactly do you design?
I design graphical user interfaces (GUI's) for web sites and web-based applications. The GUI is what people see and use when they visit your site. It includes the navigation, layout of information, and overall look-and-feel of your site (i.e. balance of text and images, menus, buttons, forms, etc.).

Do you do back-end engineering as well or just design?

Yes with a design and programming background I do both. This includes HTML and DHTML, Flash and javascript, plus back-end scripting including (VB Scripting, ASP) and database work (MS SQL and MySQL).

I've been hearing a lot about "CSS and Standards" - do you do "that?"
Absolutely. I can design or redesign your web site to be standards compliant. This has the benefit of ease of design change and content update in the future, Improved download times and search engine indexing to name just a few.

Do you provide copywriting services?
I do provide some copywriting guidance and are happy to fill in the gaps, but I highly recommend working with a dedicated, professional copywriter. Writing is not the place to skimp on your budget.

What awards have you won?
I do not enter award competitions. I believe that the self-congratulating awards "scene" encourages agencies to misplace their priorities on the opinions of their peers, rather than the needs of clients and their customers.

The only "Wow!" I go for is when a customer says, "Wow! This site really worked for me."
